Steve Moritz

Owner
Jacksonville Arcade Expo
I have loved arcades and gaming since growing up in the Chicago area in the early 1980’s, but started my collecting addiction as an adult in 1999. As many collectors do, I fell into this hobby through the discovery of MAME when I turned an old, empty Ivan Stewart’s Off Road cabinet into a MAME rig to play Robotron and Donkey Kong. The MAME experience was short-lived, as I quickly graduated to dedicated machines and, eventually, pinball. My current collection stands at approximately 100 dedicated arcade and pinball machines housed in a 3600 Sq. Ft. air-conditioned space we call “The Barn” in Northeast Florida.

I am one of the original organizers of the Jacksonville Arcade Expo gaming convention and I try to support and attend all of the major arcade/pinball shows in the Southeast with a close group of friends and collectors. Besides working on and playing games, the thing that I enjoy most about this hobby is meeting and trading with other collectors from around the country. When I am not playing or restoring games, you can generally find me outside playing Frisbee golf … badly.

Daniel Spolar has lived in Southwest Florida and has spent over the last decade of his life securely involved in the pinball community. Player, tournament director and machine restorer, Daniel’s passions lie deeply in all things pinball. These passions came together in an idea today known as Project Pinball Charity Group Inc. When approached back in 2011 about a broken-down machine in Golisano’s Children’s Hospital (Fort Myers, FL), Daniel knew that he was the only man for the job. After 112 hours of work, the Spider-ManTM machine was once again up and running with a new monthly maintenance plan in place. Seeing the joy this machine brought to these kids inspired Daniel to work towards a new goal. Today Daniel continues his love of the game by heading the charity, working vigilantly across America in hopes of one day placing a machine in every Children’s Hospital. As of today, Project Pinball Charity has placed 18 machines from coast to coast. Daniel’s greatest motivation and inspiration derive from his wonderful wife, three kids, and two grandchildren.

Stars and Strikes

Gold

It was a cold rainy afternoon in the fall of 2003 when longtime friends and neighbors Jack Canouse and Chris Albano came up with the inspiration of Stars and Strikes. They realized there was a desperate need in the Metro Atlanta area for a place where people of all ages could go to have clean, safe fun. So, with drinks in hand and time to spare, the boys got to planning. They imagined a place with top notch guest service, thousands of square feet of fun, delicious food, personable staff members, and of course a fully loaded bar ran by the best bartenders in the business. After months of hard work and planning, Jack and Chris turned their rainy day ambitions into a reality. In June 2005 they opened their first center in Cumming, which was soon followed by new centers in Lawrenceville, Dallas, Stone Mountain, Sandy Springs , Woodstock, Loganville and Buford/Mall of Georgia. Sweeping the Metro Atlanta area with their fun-filled dream was not just the work of two men but a group effort of many friends, family members and key team members. Stars and Strikes is truly a unique place where friends, family, and fun come together to make lasting memories.

The Army Painter

Silver
The Army Painter is the brain child of Bo Penstoft and Jonas Faering, both veterans of many years in the wargaming and hobby industry. The Army Painter founders have all in all fielded over 30 fully painted miniature armies, the product of countless of hours of work.

But all those hours spraying, painting and shading are hours not spent at the gaming table! The Army Painters mission is to win back those hours and give you more time for gaming.

The Army painter consists of around twenty people all dedicated to create products that will bring your wargaming miniatures from unboxing to painted gaming standard effortlessly and fast giving you more time for gaming.

Since 2007 several developments have been made in The Army Painter laboratory such as:

Colour Primers, giving hobbyists and gamers the option of spraying on a miniature’s primary colours on instead of painting them on with a brush. So the miniature Colour Primer lets you basecoat an entire regiment at a time – giving you more time for gaming.
Quickshade and the “Quickshade dipping technique”. What separates the novice from the master miniature painter? Most would say the shading and highlighting. Countless hours have been spent giving life to Orks, Elves, Space Marines and Marauders by painstakingly darkening shadows under arms, rifles and talons to make them lifelike. But what if hours could be made in to seconds? The Army Painter Quickshade Dipping Technique does exactly that, a quick dip of your miniature in the Quickshade and a vigorous shake followed by a day of drying and Voila! The miniature has been shaded to perfection, do this with an entire regiment at a time and you will have saved yourself days or even weeks of work. Finished off with The Army Painter anti-shine Varnish for an extremely lifelike result, in an outstanding Gaming Standard.

Together with the Quickshade and the Colour Primer The Army Painter produces a high quality Warpaints series consisting of basecoat colours, inks and metallic Warpaints that has one of the industry’s best coverages. They are extremely easy to work with and yields fantastic results.

Last but definitely not least are The Army Painters line of exceptional hobby tool and wargaming accessories that make gaming and preparation of miniatures as easy as getting a Pack of Orks to attack a helpless village.

During the years The Army Painter has worked with several different gaming companies helping them maximize a games potential by making custom paints, paint sets and painting guides for several different games, for example:

Zombicide, SAGA, Flames of War, Imperial Skies and many more.

This has led to great partner ships with among other:
Cool Mini or Not, Warlord Games, Battlefront Miniatures, Gripping Beast, Mantic Games, Plastic Soldier Company and many more…

What does the future hold for the army painter? Our mission is as always to Get More Time For Gaming. So we will keep on inventing and producing products that do just that. So in the future you will see a lot more interesting product from The Army Painter that will make any miniature army stand out and make wargaming easier and more interesting.
A great thanks go out to all our customers and associates who have helped us become what we are today, and we look forward to many more years working for and with you to…

GET MORE TIME FOR GAMING!

Atlanta Wrestling Entertainment wants to be the wrestling show where it's cool to say you are a wrestling fan. AWE wants to pay homage to those that came before us, while also blazing a new path of wrestling excellence.

Drinking Horn Games LLC

Tabletop
Drinking Horn Games is made up of three people: Dominic De Duonni, Leah Porter, and Nick Porter out of Atlanta, GA. Nick and Dom have been playing and running tabletop RPGs for 20 years; 15 of those together. Like many adventures, this one began with a drunken boast: while discussing over what we liked and didn’t like about other RPG systems, we landed on the million dollar question: “Let’s just design our own system. How hard could it be?”

The answer, of course, was very hard, but the past two years of development and playtesting were an experience we wouldn’t trade for anything. That, coupled with Leah’s beautiful paintings and eye for art direction have led to a game system of which we’re proud.

Drunken Goats Game

Daniel lives in Marietta. He likes tabletop games. Unfortunately, a lot of games are complicated and too involved. Many of them have a lot of rules and you need to play 5 or 6 rounds to just start to grasp the concept. Also they may take too long to play or you can get out really easily. He wanted to make something that is fast paced, easy learn, and where everyone is in play for the entire game. Something you could bring to a bar, to a game night, and that a beginner can have an equal shot at winning while still containing some strategy.

In the middle of the night, he came up with Drunken Goats. He called his illustrator friend Eric C. to design the cards. We'll have some more sneak peeks up soon. You can see more of Eric's work here>> http://eric-c.com/

Drunken Goats card game is a quirky, fast-paced, easy-to-learn card game with optional drinking rules.

Megamancave Interactive

Arcade
Do you remember the Reece’s Peanut Butter Cup commercials back in the 80’s & 90’s goes about saying “You got your chocolate in my peanut butter” and “You got your peanut butter on my chocolate”? That is how Megamancave Interactive was born!

Two guys that grew up with a love of video games:
Robb, from the 70’s & 80’s era, and Damain from the 80’s & 90’s, started working together back in 2002 in a retail video game industry. They would sell new gaming consoles, retro systems and take trade-ins on a regular basis. After quickly learning that retail employment(when you work for someone else) isn’t as rewarding, They decided to take it to the next level. Damain & Robb started volunteering at the start of the Southern Fried Gaming Expo by helping load up video games for other aficionados like ourselves, who try to live our youth over again without the quarters weighing down our pockets. They found a way to fill in the void of wanting your own arcade machine, as well as help those who wanted to restore something they inherited, or purchased at the event or elsewhere. This is where the light bulb started to glow… (a.k.a “The Idea of Megamancave!”)

After some time away from retail, Their collections became a hobby and that hobby turned into a love for everything game related, and that is why Megamancave Interactive is here today! Robb has a background in Information Systems, and has been building custom computer systems for years with experiencing on PC based gaming systems, Electronics, CNC based design, and graphics. Damain has a background on old school arcade systems, Jamma architecture, retro-restorations and is a magician at restoring older systems that need a little love to look brand new.

Together they work at creating the masterful designs that are Megamancave Interactive. If you are looking to build a retro style gaming system with the latest and greatest technology available to you, or you are trying to restore a system back to its showroom look, we have an answer for all your needs!

Monster Arcades

Arcade
Monster Arcades started out as a hobby in 1999. We built our first machine from an old Gorf cabinet by converting it to a MAME controlled unit. Family & friends wanted one built after they played it. The problem is that it is hard to find old cabinets in good shape. And the cabinet layouts are not optimal. That’s when designing our own arcade machine cabinets started. We made dozens of units. Through trial and error we soon discovered the best designs and the best materials to use for long term, enjoyable gaming.
Over ten years later we have built some of the coolest arcade machines on the planet. We have shipped units all over the world. So when you are ready for your Dream Machine contact us. Building custom arcades is our passion, not just our business.
